Maggie Hollins’ Fallen Leaf / Foraged Image features in the Gallery Shop throughout March. The display includes a suite of cyanotype and eco dye printed artworks, scarves, textiles and gift cards. The works evoke the Gallery’s beautiful surrounds, with Hollins collecting plants, leaves, flowers, and other natural objects on bushwalks around Lake Benalla and other parts of north east Victoria to create her compositions.

Hollins states, “Long bush walks allow me to connect with the magnificent trees in our region…If you look at my prints closely you might even notice free-fall leaves that I have collected while walking around Lake Benalla. I am drawn to natural and experimental print processes such as cyanotype and eco dye printing, where I can compose images from the shapes of natural objects I collect, and also release the dye found naturally inside some of these plants.”

Maggie Hollins’ unique, handmade works are informed by a connection to place, and demonstrate the artist’s commitment to sustainability. Practicing from her home studio, Hollins holds qualifications in ceramics from the National Art School, Sydney and a Visual Arts Degree from QUT, Brisbane. Her work has been included in exhibitions across north east Victoria including through North East Artisans (NEA) and the Goulburn and North East Arts Alliance Inc. (GANEAA).
