Ray Hearn: True Ned

Join us to hear renowned academic and Ned Kelly historian John McQuilton speak on the exhibition and its related themes.

John McQuilton was born and raised in Yackandandah North-Eastern Victoria and has had a lifelong interest in Ned Kelly. He is an Associate Professor in the School of History and Politics at the University of Wollongong.

John’s research, writing and numerous publications cover links between rural settlement lawlessness and folklore; Australian military history, the homefront and commemoration, and comparative regional history.  He has written extensively on Ned Kelly and social banditry including the highly regarded book, The Kelly Outbreak 1878-1880: The Geographical Dimension of Social Banditry first published in 1979.
